Apatite

Apatite is a calcium phosphate mineral which is found abundantly throughout the world. Apatite comes in variety of colors such as yellow, blue, green and brown. Apatite was discovered in 1786 by A.G. Werner and its name came from the Greek work which means “to deceive”. Apatite is quite brittle to set in jewellery but looks magnificent as a gemstone. Brazilian neon blue apatite is the most expensive which looks similar to that of Paraiba Tourmaline. Since apatite is a soft stone only skilled artisans can cut and add value to the it. Hence every jewellery made of apatite needs special care.
