Tanzanite is found at only one place on this planet and is quite a new gemstone. Tiffany & Co named the gemstone in honor of Tanzania where it was found in 1967. Tanzanite can be found in bluish violet to violetish blue in color depending on how cutters cut it to retain its maximum weight. Tanzanite is a pleochroic in nature i.e. you can see three different colors from three different crystal directions. Tanzanite is the birthstone of December. Tanzanite also comes in unique wine yellow, lemon and deep golden color. These also comes from the same location from where the blue comes and are natural without any treatment. The rough of natural yellow tanzanite’s are even rarer than the blues.
