Emeralds are one of the oldest and most exquisite gemstones on our planet. Emeralds were first mined in Egypt and Cleopatra was known to have passion for this gemstone. Emerald belongs to the beryl family and get its color from the Chromium. Emerald color can vary from green to bluish green. Emerald is the birthstone of May.

Aquamarine

Aquamarine’s gets its name from Latin which means seawater and was said to soothe the sea waves and keep sailor’s safe. Aquamarine color ranges from blue to slightly greenish blue. Aquamarine gets its blue color from the Iron. Aquamarine is the birthstone of March.

Origin- Brazil, Mozambique, and Madagascar.

Morganite

Morganite was first discovered in 1910 in Madagascar by George Kunz who was the gemmologist at Tiffany & Co. Morganite’s color varies from Orangish Pink to Peach. Morganite gets its color from the Manganese.

Origin- Madagascar.

Heliodor

Heliodor beryl is also known as Golden or Yellow beryl. Its color ranges from brownish yellow, greenish yellow and orangish yellow. Heliodor gets its color from the presence of Iron. Heliodor is also the birthstone of November.

Moh Hardness- 7.5 to 8
Origin- Namibia and Madagascar.

Goshenite

Goshenite beryl often called as white beryl is the purest form of beryl which was first discovered in Goshen, Massachusetts. It is referred as “The mother of all Beryls” as the trace element found in nature transform it to emerald, morganite, heliodor and aquamarine.

Origin- Brazil and Madagascar.
