Topaz derived its name from the ancient Greek name i.e. Topazios. Topaz is an inexpensive gemstone which comes in various colors like blue, orange, yellow, green and pink. The most priced topaz is imperial topaz which is of vibrant orange color with pink undertone. Blue topaz is widely available in the market and has heat treatment to it. The element chromium causes natural pink, red, and violet-to-purple colours in topaz. Topaz is a pleochroic gemstones which means it shows different colours in different crystal direction.
